In the shadow of the ruins of a fortress, this vantage point is reached from piazza gen. Avitabile, through a paved road nestled in a chestnut coppice. The fortress dates back to the time of the Maritime Republic, it is a fortification built of one of the most beautiful and picturesque scenery in the world, Lauritano Castle is not only a balcony on Amalfi, on its cathedral and the sea, but also on  the historic towns of Scala and Ravello, overlooking the gulf of Salerno up to Punta Licosa in the Cilento area.
